Pascal is the fourth generation of viticulteurs at Tulette (Soutern Rhône area); his father Roger was at the cave de Tulette; Pascal left the Cave les Coteaux of Visan in 2002. The domaine has been organic since 2008 and biodynamic since 2020; he also sells crop to the Famille Perrin.
Pascal is a most thoughtful, measured vigneron, on a steady path of developing the connection between his terroir and the wines. He also explores the possibilities of Muscardin and Vaccarèse for the reds, with Counoise cuttings from Château de Beaucastel at Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
La Petite Ourse is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, whose grapes come from the Visan terroir. The label can be confusing, La Grande Ourse being the estate name and the name of another cuvee as well. Here, it is La Petite Ourse, the only estate wine whose grapes come from the Visan terroir. The plots of the Visan terroir are based on a, soil made up of a thick and sandy clay silt layer, that built up recentty and is of fluvial origin this silt layer covers a substrate made up of limestone gravels that were deposited in th Quaterary during the Last Rissian glaciations, two million years ago.
