Drink Wine Not Labels

Drink Wines Not Labels (DWNL) is a project started in 2019 by Alessandro Salvano, a young and talented winemaker from Piedmont, Northern Italy. Alessandro comes from a winemaking family that has been making wine for over 100 years. This winery, Azienda Agricola Giorgio Sobrero, is located about 250 outside of the DOCG area of Barolo (Serralunga d’Alba) and is currently run by Alessandro’s uncle Giorgio Sobrero (great-grandson of founder Giorgio Sobrero).

Alessandro graduated in oenology from the ‘Scuola Enologica Alba’ in Alba and works full-time at a wine importer of international and modern high-end wines. In addition to his work, he has his DWNL project for which he buys the grapes from his uncle. Around the harvest, he takes his holidays to harvest and make wine in his uncle Giorgio’s wine cellar. Alessandro is a big fan of whole cluster and natural fermentation with wild yeast.
